The EU-AIMS project: Developing the infrastructure underlying the development and testing of new treatments for autism spectrum disorders.

There are no effective treatments of the core symptoms of autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and our understanding of the underlying pathophysiology remains poor.

Just over one year ago EU-AIMS – European Autism Interventions: A multicentre study for developing new medications was launched; the to-date largest single project on autism in the world. EU-AIMS brings together leading scientists from 14 European academic institutions, industry and the patient organization Autism Speaks to develop the infrastructure underpinning the development and testing of new treatments for ASD.
